A chef's tour of Jimbaran

Grilled fish, plastic chairs, salt in the air, and the best sambal in Bali.

Two of our chefs grew up in Jimbaran. Once a fortnight, they take guests on a small tour — the morning fish market first, then breakfast at a warung that doesn't have a name on the door.

The tour ends at the beach grills for lunch. You pick a fish straight from the ice, they cook it over coconut shells, and you eat it with two kinds of sambal and rice steamed in banana leaf.
